Synthetic fabrics are one of the most durable fabrics ever created. However, this durability comes at a cost: the use of petrochemicals and fossil fuels in their production, contributing to microfiber pollution, and not biodegrading for centuries. 

Gaia01 BioTech High Performance Shirt is made from 100% GREENONE® yarn. GREENONE® is a biodegradable polyester, produced using recycled PET bottles with a unique formula added to the fibre process. This allows the fibre to accelerate the aggregation of microorganisms in seawater or landfills, improve the efficiency of biodegradation, and enhance the life cycle of polyester products. 

It can accelerate the decomposition process under anaerobic conditions from 450 years to 3-4 years. It has been tested according to ASTM D5511 for biodegradation in landfills under oxygen-poor conditions, ASTM D6691-2007 for biodegradation in the ocean, and ASTM E1963 to ensure that GREENONE® is non-toxic to plants. The Gaia01 BioTech High Performance shirt will last and perform for many years to come and can be home composted into soil or disposed of in managed landfills when no longer needed.
